Lotus Excel - Fast Road Restoration/Restomod

After nearly a decade off the road, this Lotus Excel arrived at Concours Classics for a comprehensive mechanical recommissioning. Following an initial project briefing, we collected the vehicle and transported it back to our Suffolk restoration workshop, ready to begin bringing this iconic British sports car back to life.

Boasting a rebuilt Holbay racing engine, this particular Excel was certainly no slouch. With a set of Lotus Excel SE specification wheels waiting to be fitted and an extensive list of mechanical work ahead, our first priority was the engine and cooling system.

We began by addressing the leaking radiator, replacing perished engine belts and carrying out a thorough cooling system flush. These initial stages formed the foundation of the recommissioning process, preparing the Lotus for its long-awaited return to the road.
